This season, designer Ulla Johnson looked to Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings of the rugged New Mexico landscape to balance her signature romanticism with an earthy edge. Chunky knits and graphic crochet lace meet bold mixed prints in fluid silhouettes to create an inspired sartorial desert dreamscape. Manhattan-based designer Ulla Johnson credits her archaeologist parents as inspiration for her namesake ready-to-wear label, founded in 1998. Natural fibers, easy fits and meticulous finishes are seen in each collection, which incorporate sweeping silhouettes, and printing and dyeing techniques from around the world.
